How to Apply
Apply to be a NTU exchange student in just 9 steps.
Step 1. Participate in the NTU Study Abroad Expo and Make Early Preparations
- Maintain good academic performance.
- Acquire language certificates be of tests taken within two (2) years, as stated in the Selection Guidelines.
- Students that will have met the graduation requirements in either semester (Semester 1 or 2) may only apply for exchange/visiting programs held in the first semester of their extension, and may not attend exchange/visiting programs held in any later semester.
Step 2. Attend the Selection Briefing and Read the Guidelines
- Please note, this a translated version from Chinese. If there is any inconsistency or ambiguity between the English version and the Chinese version, the Chinese version shall prevail.
- Admitted students will depart in Semester 1, 2025/2026AY (August 2025 onwards), for their exchange of one (1) semester or (1) one academic year.
- Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- At least be in their 2nd year of undergraduate/1st of graduate study at NTU; and
- For undergraduate applicants, a GPA of at least 2.44 or a class rank in the top 50% in the 2023/2024AY (as recorded in their class rank certification) is required; and
- Shall meet the language requirement(s) of NTU to apply for selection and the language requirement(s) of the host university when listing preferences.
- Students that have participated in university/college/department-level exchange programs during their current degree and with the following conditions are still eligible to apply, but may only apply to host institutions that are available for a second student exchange:
- Applicants that are about to attend, are currently attending, have completed, or due to exceptional circumstances had terminated an ongoing exchange student program; or
- Applicants that had completed registration, but later renounced their admission.
- Students listed as follows are NOT eligible to apply:
- Students enrolled in an in-service education program; or
- Students that have completed registration for a college/department-level exchange program, and are to depart for their program in Semester 1, 2025/2026AY.
- Scholarship Information
1 Eligibility: Students currently enrolled at National Taiwan University (excluding executive education and dual-degree program students) have been successfully admitted to the university-level exchange student program and meet one of the identities listed in the guideline. (Students admitted to the exchange student program for the second time within the same degree level are not qualified to apply for this scholarship.) For more information, please refer to the scholarship application guidelines.
Step 3. Research Your Options
- Information applicable to Semester 1, 2025/2026AY will be updated on a rolling basis.
- Before applying, please verify the school information (including but not limited to language requirements and corresponding departments) and note that the academic system of some exchange schools might differ slightly from that of NTU.
- For postgraduate students, the approved credits for transfer should not exceed 1/2 of the required graduation credits set by the department/institute. However, this does not apply to special cases approved by the Dean of Academic Affairs.

Warm reminders:
- Selected students will study abroad for exchange during Semester 1, 2025/2026AY (beginning in August 2025), either for one semester or one academic year.
- The 'Department/Institute Recommendation Form' will be automatically generated by the system once all required documents are confirmed as uploaded after the selection process opens. It cannot be downloaded in advance.
- If, for any reason, you are unable to receive emails via your NTU Mail, please prioritise contacting the NTU Computer and Information Networking Centre to verify your account (Email: cchelp@ntu.edu.tw, Tel: +886-2-3366-5022 or +886-2-3366-5023).
- Please use your desktop computer or laptop to log into the system.
- Please change the zoom to 50% if you are unable to complete the Selection Guidelines viewing process.
- The Department/Institute Recommendation Form will be automatically generated by the system after your passport photo, Student ID Card and ID card/passport/Exit & Entry Permit are uploaded.
- For payment receipts, you can either upload a screenshot of the ✅ Successful Payment page from online/mobile banking or provide a transaction slip from a physical ATM or Hua Nan Bank counter.
- Postgraduate students are advised to discuss with their professors in advance regarding the submission of Letter of Recommendation.

- Each applicant will only have one (1) chance to reupload all insufficient documents (altogether) to the application system.
- Resume and Exchange Study Plan are not allowed to resubmit.
- Applicants that fail to replace all insufficient documents will not be eligible for selection.
Step 5. Check Your Selection Score and Complete the First Listing of Preferences

- Internal Screening Score
- Applicants may select up to 30 preferences. The online preference listing system can only screen certain basic requirements. As the academic fields of each institution may vary, applicants are advised to research suitable institutions and to only make fully informed choices.
- Applicants that fail to submit their preference list will automatically forfeit their assignment.
- After submitting their list of preferences, applicants may not request to make any changes under any circumstances.
- For non-English speaking countries/regions, applicants must make sure if there are enough English-taught courses to choose from.
Step 6. Check Your Selection Decision and Complete Registration
- Registration Timeline:
- Open: 12 December 2024, 4PM
Close: 17 December 2024, 4PM
- Decisions Release
- Confirmation of Placement: Upload the Student Exchange Confirmation and Parent/Guardian Consent Form and Program fee payment receipt to the system to complete the registration procedure.
- Declinature of Placement: Applicants may decline their admission by submitting their declinature via the system before closure. Applicants will not be able to withdraw their declinature under any circumstances.
- Applicants that fail to complete their registration within the designated time frame will automatically forfeit their admission/placement, and will be eligible for the Second Listing of Preference.
- Applicants that have also been admitted to college/department-level exchange programs for Semester 1, 2025/2026AY may only register for one of their admitted programs.
- Applicants are advised to keep their own copy of their documents, as submitted documents will not be returned. After registering, students may not withdraw their registration under any circumstances.
Step 7. Second Listing of Preferences (if applicable)
- Second Listing of Preferences Timeline:
- Open: 19 December 2024, 4PM
Close: 24 December 2024, 4PM
- Applicants may participate in the Second Listing of Preferences if they did not submit their First Listing of Preferences, have not been assigned a host institution, forfeited their placement, and have not registered for any college/department-level exchange programs in Semester 1, 2025/2026AY.
- Applicants may select up to 30 preferences and may select any of the institutions they are qualified to apply to, and are not restricted to institutions of their initial category. Other notable remarks are as in the First Listing of Preferences.
- The quota for the first and second listing of preferences are not explicitly related.
- Applicants that fail to submit their preference list will automatically forfeit their assignment.
Step 8. Complete Second Registration Procedure (if applicable)
- Second Registration Timeline:
- Open: 27 December 2024, 4PM

- Decisions Release
- Confirmation of Placement: Upload the Student Exchange Confirmation and Parent/Guardian Consent Form and Program fee payment receipt to the system to complete the registration procedure.
- Declinature of Placement: See you next semester! 💪
- Applicants that fail to complete their registration within the designated time frame will automatically forfeit their admission/placement.
- Applicants that have also been admitted to college/department-level exchange programs for Semester 2, 2024/2025AY may only register for one of their admitted programs.
- Applicants are advised to keep their own copy of their documents, as submitted documents will not be returned. After registering, students may not withdraw their registration under any circumstances.
- Remark: The above-mentioned information is only for reference. In case of any dispute, the terms and conditions in the Selection Guidelines shall prevail.
