How to Apply

Apply to be a NTU exchange student in just 9 steps.

Step 1. Participate in the NTU Study Abroad Expo and Make Early Preparations
Step 2. Attend the Selection Briefing and Read the Guidelines
  1. Currently enrolled at an undergraduate or graduate program1 at NTU; and
  2. For undergraduate applicants, a GPA of at least 2.44 or a class3 rank in the top 50%2 in the 2023/2024AY (as recorded in their class rank certification) is required; and
  3. Shall meet the language requirement(s) of NTU to be eligible for selection3; while each host institution may have its own requirements, applicants’ must check the List of Exchange Universities to confirm the relevant details.
  1. Applicants that are about to attend, are currently attending, have completed, or due to exceptional circumstances had terminated an ongoing exchange student program; or
  2. Applicants that had completed registration, but later renounced their admission.
  1. Students enrolled in an in-service education program; or
  2. Students that have completed registration for a college/department-level exchange program, and are to depart for their program in Semester 2, 2025/2026AY.

1 Students on a leave of absence do not hold active student status at the University during the leave period and are therefore not eligible to apply for the International Exchange Student Selection.

2 Applicants who took a leave of absence or participated in an exchange student program in 2023/2024AY may submit their academic records for 2022/2023AY. If an applicant took a leave of absence for one semester, they will be unable to obtain the class rank certification of that academic year (according to the regulations of the Office of Academic Affairs). They shall use the class rank certification of their previous full academic year.

3 Applicants must possess the required language proficiency test scores for their chosen category during application. Domestic students with no language proficiency test scores may only apply for the Chinese Category.

4 Eligibility: Students currently enrolled at National Taiwan University (excluding executive education and dual-degree program students) have been successfully admitted to the university-level exchange student program and meet one of the identities listed in the guideline. (Students admitted to the exchange student program for the second time within the same degree level are not qualified to apply for this scholarship.) Warm reminders:

  1. Each applicant will only have one (1) chance to reupload all insufficient documents (altogether) to the application system.
  2. Resume, Exchange Study Plan and Proof of Language Proficiency are NOT allowed to reupload.
  3. Applicants that fail to replace all insufficient documents will not be eligible for selection.
Step 5. Check Your Selection Score and Complete the First Listing of Preferences

  1. Applicants that fail to submit their preference list will automatically forfeit their assignment.
  2. After submitting their list of preferences, applicants may not request to make any changes under any circumstances.
  3. For non-English speaking countries/regions, applicants must make sure if there are enough English-taught courses to choose from.
Step 6. Check Your Selection Decision and Complete Registration

  1. Applicants that fail to complete their registration within the designated time frame will automatically forfeit their admission/placement, and will be eligible for the Second Listing of Preference.
  2. Applicants that have also been admitted to college/department-level exchange programs for Semester 2, 2025/2026AY may only register for one of their admitted programs.
  3. Applicants are advised to keep their own copy of their documents, as submitted documents will not be returned. After registering, students may not withdraw their registration under any circumstances.
  4. For payment receipts, you can either upload a screenshot of the ✅ Successful Payment page from online/mobile banking or provide a transaction slip from a physical ATM or Hua Nan Bank counter.
  5. Note: Students who receive a nomination through the selection process must follow the instructions to apply to the host institution. Their application will be reviewed and approved by the host institution, including the assignment of a campus (if applicable). Students will only officially qualify as exchange students after receiving admission from the host institution. If a student decides to withdraw from the exchange programme due to changes in the host institution’s regulations, failure to meet the host institution’s application requirements or discrepancies in the assigned campus, semester, or study duration compared to their expectations, they will be subject to the penalties and procedures outlined in the Selection Guidelines.

Step 7. Second Listing of Preferences (if applicable)
  1. The quota for the first and second listing of preferences are not explicitly related.
  2. Applicants that fail to submit their preference list will automatically forfeit their assignment.
Step 8. Complete Second Registration Procedure (if applicable)

Step 9. Participate in the Pre-departure Info Session and Await Application Notification Emails from NTU Study Abroad
