Brazilian Seminars Summer program 2025 – 8th edition: 

The Brazilian Seminars developed by PUC-Rio is an interdisciplinary program meant to give a broad perspective of Brazilian issues which are currently in the global scenario.

It is aimed at students, scholars, professionals and everyone else who is interested in the opportunity to deepen their knowledge about Brazil.

The technical visits are offered to promote the encounter of the academic theory with the real life of companies and entrepreneurs located in Rio. Participants have the chance to interact with people in management positions providing significant insights about doing business in Brazil.

Portuguese language instruction, cultural and social activities will complement the Brazilian experience.

The Summer University, which has been running for around fifteen years, welcomes students of all ages, backgrounds, levels and educational backgrounds to the Sorbonne every July for 4 weeks of weekly themed lectures (5 x 3-hour sessions from Monday to Friday) on a variety of subjects, as well as FLE courses.
The courses are taught by tenured lecturers from Sorbonne University. The teaching is in French, taking into account the heterogeneity of the public and favouring the exchange and convivial transmission of knowledge.
Some courses are offered in English.

Last summer, we had the pleasure of welcoming over 400 students representing 47 nationalities. The University is also an opportunity to meet and exchange ideas, and a number of cultural activities are offered in addition to the courses.

The Keio Short-Term Japanese Studies Program (KJSP) is a two-week program for international students (undergraduate and master’s-level students) and Keio students to learn about Japan through collaboration.
By joining discussions and giving presentations on their cultures and societies, international students will also have a chance to discover their own countries from an outside perspective.
Keio expect around 40 participants in total, 15 Keio students and 25 international students.

The program offers a variety of lectures on Japanese economy, business, arts, and traditional and modern culture, as well as activities related to those lectures, allowing students to understand Japan and to improve their cross-cultural awareness. Students will gain knowledge not only from the lectures by experienced faculty members and through a range of activities, but also by communicating with each other.

The topic of the winter school is “The Discovery of Modernity – Vienna Around 1900”. The univie: winter school takes place in Vienna, where traces of the outstanding culture of the late 19th and the beginning of the 20th century are still visible.

The two-week program combines first class academic courses with an extensive social and cultural program. Vienna’s rich cultural heritage, especially the museums, will lead to a thorough understanding of the input of the fin-de-siècle on the modernization of Europe.

You can be a part of this change. But to help transform the world, we first need to understand the complex global challenges we face and our role in these. Join us at the 2025 International Winter School on Sustainable Development to deepen your understanding of these issues – through creative, interactive, and participatory learning.

Current global sustainability challenges are increasingly complex. Really understanding what’s at stake requires knowledge on systemic interactions and on competing claims by different actors. Science, thus, has a major role to play in informing negotiations and solutions to guide the societal transformations needed to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The purpose of this Winter School is to empower participants to act in the face of these challenges. In this nine-day online course, experienced sustainability researchers will highlight the most important development issues in their respective fields. These presentations will alternate with study time where participants can deepen their knowledge individually or in groups. Both run at the same time (5-26 January 2025) and students are together during the program outside of class time. Q: When do ESL students (Session E & F) take the placement test?
A: Typically this assessment happens after a student is accepted into the program but before they arrive on campus. The assessment is done virtually.

Q: What is the add/drop timeline for Summer Sessions courses?
A: Students can make changes to their courses up until the add/drop deadline for the Session they are studying in. This is typically 10 days after classes start or about one week after classes start for the shorter sessions (E & F). Q: What is the payment timeline for Summer Sessions courses?
A: Students need to pay for their courses within 7 days of enrolling in them. If they do not pay for their classes within this timeline, they will be dropped from the class.

About the program

Our two-week English Language and UK Culture Summer School enables you to experience a UK university and explore the UK. During your time in Bristol, you’ll improve your English language and presentation skills. As well as studying, you’ll explore the UK with day trips to Oxford, Bath and London.

[About HSI]

Hokkaido Summer Institute (HSI) is one of the largest summer schools in Japan. Program participants have an opportunity to attend classes through attractive educational techniques such as field training using Hokkaido’s extensive land, and active learning to develop human resources capable of thriving on the world stage.

Courses offered at HSI 2024 are divided into four types: the Advance Research Course and the Global Liberal Arts Course, both designed primarily for students; and the HSI extension/professional program in English and Japanese, both providing recurrent education intended primarily for adults.

International Summer School (ISS) at the University of Oslo has offered intensive summer courses since 1947.  A total of over 30,000 students from more than 150 countries have attended our program. You can choose from a wide range of Bachelor’s courses, focusing on Norwegian language and various aspects of Norwegian culture and society, as well as several Master’s courses dealing with topics of broad international interest. The courses adopt a comparative perspective, where the Norwegian case may serve as a basis for discussion. Courses are based on active student participation, and many of them include field visits.

You can also enjoy a wide range of cultural events, film nights, international evenings and forums, social get-togethers, sports, and local excursions to places of interest in the Oslo area. A varied weekend excursion program includes cultural heritage tours, mountain hiking, and rafting, as well as a tour of Bergen and the fjords of Western Norway.
