Students can choose to undertake a single course, multiple courses from the same subject ‘pathway’, or combine multiple courses from different subject ‘pathways.’

YISS offers a wide range of courses, including the arts, culture, humanities, Asian and Korean studies, international politics and economics, global management, science and technology, and environmental studies. Leading experts and professors from Yonsei and institutes worldwide teach courses at YISS.

The exciting learning environment of YISS continues outside the classroom with a variety of extracurricular activities, including a DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) tour, Korean cooking class, and many more. Established in 1989, LSE Summer School is now the largest of its kind in the world. The programme offers courses from a diverse range of disciplines including business and management, accounting, finance, law, economics, international relations, and more. From Economic Policy to AI for Business, the courses are wide-ranging and aim to suit all interests.

Created by LSE faculty and taught to a degree standard by LSE lecturers, the programmes are designed to give you the same learning experience as full-time students. You can study for three, six or nine weeks, in one of the most well-renowned institutions in the world, in one of the greatest cities in the world.

Courses taught during the Summer School are based on regular LSE undergraduate courses, and taught to the same standards by leading LSE faculty. Lecturers are experts in their chosen fields and committed to teaching with academic rigour and contemporary relevance. Our faculty are actively involved in academic research and many act as advisers and consultants to companies and Government bodies.

Alongside your studies, you will also have the chance to relax with your fellow students outside of class. An organised social programme will give you a chance to see some of the amazing sights of London and beyond. Past events have included trips to the theatre, sunset cruise on the Thames, walking tours all around London, plus day-trips to historic cities Cambridge and Oxford.

The International Summer Programme takes place on the main SOAS (The School of Oriental and African Studie) campus in central London, giving students the opportunity to experience campus life in Bloomsbury while making the most of everything that a major capital city like London has to offer.

Most of the courses last three weeks, and students normally join the programme for three to six weeks. The academic courses cover subjects ranging from International Relations and Global Business to Art and Literature and Media Studies. The English language courses focus on essential everyday English as well as for a more academic context. The courses are scheduled over a nine-week period so students can take one, two or three courses.

It’s a great way for students to develop their English, expand their academic knowledge and experience a different educational culture and approach. Of course, it also gives students the chance to explore London while they study.

Recommended English Levels

– Students choosing an academic subject course are recommended to have at least an intermediate level of English (IELTS 5.5)  in order to understand the lectures, which are delivered at undergraduate level, and to engage in lively discussion in the seminars and tutorials.
– Students choosing the English Language Skills course are recommended to have at least a lower intermediate level of English (IELTS 4.5).
– Students choosing the Intensive Academic English course should have the equivalent of at least IELTS 5.0 in each skill subscore.

Fiction in all its Forms: UEA Creative Writing Summer School

University of East Anglia (UEA) is recognised today as the home of Creative Writing across the globe. We pioneered the teaching of the subject in Europe more than 50 years ago when our first student was Ian McEwan, who went on to win the Booker Prize and become one of Britain’s most well-known authors. Since then, we have trained countless award-winning writers, including Sir Kazuo Ishiguro, the 2017 Nobel Laureate for Literature.

Although we teach all forms of writing, it is fiction especially which we have defined over the last fifty years. This course therefore gives an opportunity for students to experience our Creative Writing workshops and pedagogy while gaining experience of writing the form with which UEA is most associated.

Join us on UEA’s campus in Norwich, England’s first UNESCO City of Literature, in Summer 2026 to learn from experts and immerse yourself in a world of literature alongside likeminded writers.

Teaching since 1996, the Summer School of University of Sussex is the fourth-longest established summer school in England. For 30 years, we have welcomed students from around the world for a truly impactful academic and cultural experience. We offer research-led teaching in a unique coastal setting within the South Downs National Park, just one hour from London.

New modules include medically focused Translational Neuroscience and Exploring the Brain, giving students a unique hands-on experience through laboratory sessions, MRI medical imaging and clinical practices. We’re excited to offer Business Law and Human Rights for the first time, providing students with insight into the intersections of legal systems, international business and human rights. Innovative and Sustainable Finance will deliver experience in our Bloomberg Lab, offering students hands-on training and access to real-time financial data, news and analysis.

We advise applying early as places are limited and there is a lot of competition for accommodation and course places.

It is our pleasure to provide you with information about the univie: winter school for Cultural Historical Studies 2026 of the Sommerhochschule of the University of Vienna.
The topic of the winter school is “The Discovery of Modernity – Vienna Around 1900”. The univie: winter school takes place in Vienna, where traces of the outstanding culture of the late 19th and the beginning of the 20th century are still visible.

The two-week program combines first class academic courses with an extensive social and cultural program. Vienna’s rich cultural heritage, especially the museums, will lead to a thorough understanding of the input of the fin-de-siècle on the modernization of Europe.
This unique program consists of high-level lectures in the morning and guided excursions in the city of Vienna as well as visits to various museums in the afternoon. Outside the framework of classes, Vienna offers plenty of opportunities to explore additional cultural and historical sights.
The academic course environment encourages intercultural and social exchange and favors mutual understanding within the international student population. Participants thus broaden their horizons, meet colleagues from different fields of study, make friends for life and build connections for their future professional careers.

This time, the program will combine a three-day, two-night trip to Hiroshima with two days of Japanese cultural experiences in Tokyo. In Hiroshima, participants will visit sites such as the Peace Memorial Park, which was established in remembrance of the atomic bomb victims and as a symbol of the wish for everlasting world peace, as well as Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima Island, a World Heritage site and one of Japan’s Three Most Scenic Spots. Through these visits, students will have the opportunity to learn about nature and history.

Ritsumeikan University offers programs for undergraduate and graduate students with minimal knowledge of the Japanese language, providing a comprehensive introduction to Japanese language and culture.
Ritsumeikan Summer/Winter Japanese Program (RSJP/RWJP) is a five-week program, while Ritsumeikan Summer/Winter Japanese Program Express (RSJP/RWJP Express) is a two-week intensive program.
All of these programs consist of two major subjects: intensive Japanese language class, which provides them with a thorough introduction to the language, and Japan Studies classes, where you can learn about Japanese culture and take part in fieldwork to cultural spots in Kyoto.

【Eligibilities】
• Currently enrolled in a university during the entire program period (undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students)
• Submit necessary documents and pay fees by due date
• Students with no prior Japanese learning experience must learn Hiragana and Katakana before joining the program. Self-study in advance is required.
• The Japanese classes follow the direct method, meaning instruction is conducted entirely in Japanese. English assistance is very limited and should not be expected.

Achieving human well-being and eradicating poverty for all people on earth – while protecting our planet’s climate and biodiversity – will require transformative change. You can be a part of this change. But to help transform the world, we first need to understand the complex global challenges we face and our role in these. Join us at the 2025 International Winter School on Sustainable Development to deepen your understanding of these issues – through creative, interactive, and participatory learning.

Current global sustainability challenges are increasingly complex. Really understanding what’s at stake requires knowledge on systemic interactions and on competing claims by different actors. Science, thus, has a major role to play in informing negotiations and solutions to guide the societal transformations needed to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The purpose of this Winter School is to empower participants to act in the face of these challenges. In this nine-day online course, experienced sustainability researchers will highlight the most important development issues in their respective fields. These presentations will alternate with study time where participants can deepen their knowledge individually or in groups. Moreover, participants will form interdisciplinary teams in which they will co-design solutions to concrete sustainability challenges.

The Initiative offers conceptual and empirical elements of social sciences to place health-disease processes in a complex sociocultural environment. The Intensive Japanese Language and Culture Study Program is available every summer and winter. This is a three-week program designed for those who wish to improve their communication skills in Japanese language while increasing their understanding of Japanese culture through a variety of activities.

<Course Level & Prerequisite skills and requirements>

Beginner (初級):
･ Can read Hiragana and Katakana.
･ Have studied Japanese for about 100 hours（self-taught is also acceptable）.
･ Students should be at a level equivalent to “Minna no Nihongo” L1-12 and “GENKI” L1-5.
･ Students should be able to speak and write single sentences using simple nouns, adjectives, and verbs.
･ If these conditions are not met, the student should be able to communicate in basic English.

Elementary (初中級):
･ Completed more than 150 hours of Japanese language studies.
･ Students are expected to have knowledge of basic verb conjugation, such as Dictionary form, Nai- form, and Te- form.

The Center for International Education and Collaboration at Kwansei Gakuin University (KGU) welcomes students from our partner universities to join the KGU Japan Studies Program. This three-week program is designed for students who wish to study about “Cool Japan”, which includes contemporary Japanese culture and products such as animation, manga, games, Japanese traditional cuisines and commodities. Through lessons taught entirely in English, you will learn about Japan’s cultural and creative industries that shape “Cool Japan” from a business studies and social sciences perspective, while classes on Japanese culture will examine the roots of Japan’s popularity branded as “Cool Japan”.

This year, on July 21–August 2, 2025, the Faculty of Agricultural Technology Universitas Gadjah Mada (FAT UGM) will host its annual summer course, entitled “Summer Course in Agri-food Sector: Artificial Intelligence Applications for Advancing the Agri-food Industry”.

This summer course will emphasize the urgent need to implement Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based strategies for addressing the impacts of climate change on the agricultural sector. The application of AI in the agricultural and food sectors is still limited compared to its potential surge of AI development, research, and application in these sectors. Consequently, a comprehensive approach is required to use AI throughout the agri-food sector, encompassing all stages from agriculture (food production), processing and analysis (food processing/analysis), and supply chain. Collaboration among universities, industries, and government, both domestically and internationally is essential to accelerate the development of AI in the agro-industrial sector, thereby achieving sustainable food security at the domestic, regional, and global scales in response to climate change and Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs), especially on goals (2) Zero Hunger; (3) Good Health and Well-being; (4) Quality Education; (9) Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; (12) Responsible Consumption and Production; (13) Climate Action; (15) Life on Land; and (17) Partnerships for the Goals.

The Summer Course will be held in hybrid (the first phase as a Pre-Course session with fully online method participation on July 21-27, 2025, and the second phase as a Course session with on-site and online participation on July 28-August 2, 2025), so that the participants can decide whether they will participate as online participants throughout the Summer Course or will participate as onsite participants that will come physically to FAT UGM for the Course session, after finishing their Pre-Course phase online.

The Migration Research Center at Koç University (MiReKoc) will host the MiReKoc-UNIC International Summer School 2025 entitled “Beyond Borders: Health, Migration, and Diversity in an Interconnected World”, which will be organized in cooperation with the European Universities UNIC initiative between the dates of 14th and 25th July 2025 in Istanbul.

The main objective of the Summer School is to encourage collective experience for early career scholars and professionals. The language of the Summer School is English. The programme includes two weeks of lectures, lab sessions and discussion sessions which will be led by distinguished international faculty members and experts in the field. The participants will have the chance of sharing their research agendas and ideas with these scholars in an interactive environment. An academic presentation and the submission of an original research paper of at least 4.000 words is required from all participants. A certificate of participation will be provided upon successful completion of the program. On demand, students will be provided 3 ECTS course credits.

Eligibility

This program is designed for graduate students and PhD candidates, early career researchers, policy analysts, NGO and international organization practitioners, as well as junior experts in the field. MiReKoc UNIC International Summer School does not only offer expanding the knowledge of its participants, but also promises networking opportunities between them and distinguished faculty to enhance both parties’ research agendas. Brazilian Seminars Summer program 2025 – 8th edition: 

The Brazilian Seminars developed by PUC-Rio is an interdisciplinary program meant to give a broad perspective of Brazilian issues which are currently in the global scenario.

It is aimed at students, scholars, professionals and everyone else who is interested in the opportunity to deepen their knowledge about Brazil.

The technical visits are offered to promote the encounter of the academic theory with the real life of companies and entrepreneurs located in Rio. Participants have the chance to interact with people in management positions providing significant insights about doing business in Brazil.

The APRU SDG Education for Global Citizenship (SDG4GC) is an intercultural, transdisciplinary, and interactive program that fosters global citizenship among Pacific Rim students. Co-designed by several core-partner universities in collaboration with the United Nations (UN), it builds knowledge of global issues and global literacy among students.

APRU SDG4GC 2025 will conduct a hybrid program under the umbrella theme of “Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity: Actions for Sustainability.” The program will explore the theme’s many dimensions, including social, cultural, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, mental, physical, and economic.

Kanagawa University offers short-term intensive language programs twice a year, in summer and winter, open to people from all over the world. The program focuses on Japanese language study, and includes lectures on Japan, as well as opportunities to directly experience flower arranging and tea ceremony, with the aim of deepening understanding of modern Japan and traditional Japanese culture. Participants will choose 2 or 3 subjects out of 16 subjects in the context of Japan and Asia Pacific.*Each subject has 23.5 teaching hours. For more details, please see here (Course list will be finalized by the end of January). The classes are entirely taught in English by well-known faculty members. In addition, and most importantly, there will be a lot of extracurricular activities such as Japanese language exercises, field trips, site visits, and cultural events!
