FUBiS is offering semi-intensive German language and culture courses at five proficiency levels and English-taught subject courses. Students can choose between German language courses and subject courses held in English and German that take place on-site in Berlin. Some courses in the summer terms can be combined with each other, allowing students to tailor their schedule according to their interests. For their achievements students receive ECTS credits which they may count toward their degrees at their home universities.

Students from all over the world participate in FUBiS, creating an international environment which promotes the learning and use of intercultural competency skills. Participation in the FUBiS program is an academic, cultural and personal enrichment for students.

Berkeley Summer Sessions advisors are hosting live virtual Summer Sessions Info Sessions designed for anyone interested in enrolling in Summer Sessions. These info sessions will be offered from October through March. All are welcome!

Classes

Classes for Summer 2025 will be published in the Berkeley Academic Guide in mid-December at classes.berkeley.edu. In the meantime, please encourage your students to browse our course selection from summer 2024, as the majority of these courses will be offered again next summer.

We will continue to offer more than 600 courses, including in-person and online courses, summer certificates, and English Language courses for intermediate to advanced English speakers.

Application

EARLY Registration for affiliated students opens on February 3, 2025
Registration for the general public will open two weeks later, on February 17th. We strongly encourage your students to take advantage of this early enrollment period to have the opportunity to enroll in classes that fill up quickly!

Cal Housing

– Cal Housing includes campus residence halls and apartments.

This year, LSE curated an impressive line-up of 178 social and professional skills events.
We are offering more than 100 courses across seven subject areas, reflecting LSE’s wide-ranging strengths across the social sciences. Courses will be delivered in-person at our central London campus. We’re pleased to introduce a number of new courses for 2025, designed to cater to a variety of interests and global trends. These include exciting new topics such as IR112: Gender, Culture and Policy, IR225: Understanding China’s Rise: Global and Local Perspectives, and ME319: Machine Learning and Stochastic Simulations: Applications for Finance, Risk Management and Insurance.

The social programme fostered lasting friendships with unforgettable experiences like the Thames River Cruise, the Harry Potter Warner Bros Studio Tour, and vibrant end-of-session parties. These events created an international network of connections that will benefit students for years to come.

The Spark professional skills programme continued to grow, offering interactive bootcamps, exciting workshops led by industry experts, and sessions on postgraduate study and wellbeing techniques. These events equipped students with the tools to progress in their professional journeys and thrive in today’s competitive global job market.

【Winter School 2025】
We offer two winter schools in January 2025: International Security: Practical Insights and Human Rights and International Law. Both run at the same time (5-26 January 2025) and students are together during the program outside of class time. The full programme fee for 2025 is €2650 EUR, with a €400 discount available to our partner universities. The application deadline is 10 October.

The Sussex Undergraduate Summer School launches for applications on 1 December 2024. We have one of the UK’s longest running and most successful programmes, running for over 20 years since 2002.

Next Summer we are delighted to offer 20 credit-bearing academic modules from the Faculty of Media, Arts & Humanities; Faculty of Science, Engineering and Medicine; Faculty of Social Sciences and the University of Sussex Business School. Brazilian Seminars Summer program 2025 – 8th edition: 

The Brazilian Seminars developed by PUC-Rio is an interdisciplinary program meant to give a broad perspective of Brazilian issues which are currently in the global scenario.

It is aimed at students, scholars, professionals and everyone else who is interested in the opportunity to deepen their knowledge about Brazil.

The technical visits are offered to promote the encounter of the academic theory with the real life of companies and entrepreneurs located in Rio. Participants have the chance to interact with people in management positions providing significant insights about doing business in Brazil.

The Summer University, which has been running for around fifteen years, welcomes students of all ages, backgrounds, levels and educational backgrounds to the Sorbonne every July for 4 weeks of weekly themed lectures (5 x 3-hour sessions from Monday to Friday) on a variety of subjects, as well as FLE courses.
The courses are taught by tenured lecturers from Sorbonne University. The teaching is in French, taking into account the heterogeneity of the public and favouring the exchange and convivial transmission of knowledge.
Some courses are offered in English.

Last summer, we had the pleasure of welcoming over 400 students representing 47 nationalities. The University is also an opportunity to meet and exchange ideas, and a number of cultural activities are offered in addition to the courses.

The Keio Short-Term Japanese Studies Program (KJSP) is a two-week program for international students (undergraduate and master’s-level students) and Keio students to learn about Japan through collaboration.
By joining discussions and giving presentations on their cultures and societies, international students will also have a chance to discover their own countries from an outside perspective.
Keio expect around 40 participants in total, 15 Keio students and 25 international students.

Elementary course (A2 level in CEFR scale) ： JLPT N4 level
This class is for students who are JLPT N4 level or equivalent. Students in this level are able to listen and comprehend conversations encountered in daily life and generally follow their contents, provided that they are spoken slowly.
You CAN NOT apply to this class if you have no background in learning Japanese.

Intermediate course (B1 level in CEFR scale) ： JLPT N3～N2 level

This program is designed for students who wish to immerse themselves in the Japanese language and culture in a concentrated and immersive manner.
Throughout the five-week program, participants will have the opportunity to engage with our local students through our buddy system, fostering a rich cultural exchange experience.

It is our pleasure to provide you with information about the univie: winter school for Cultural Historical Studies 2025 of the Sommerhochschule of the University of Vienna.
The topic of the winter school is “The Discovery of Modernity – Vienna Around 1900”. The univie: winter school takes place in Vienna, where traces of the outstanding culture of the late 19th and the beginning of the 20th century are still visible.

The two-week program combines first class academic courses with an extensive social and cultural program. Vienna’s rich cultural heritage, especially the museums, will lead to a thorough understanding of the input of the fin-de-siècle on the modernization of Europe.
This unique program consists of high-level lectures in the morning and guided excursions in the city of Vienna as well as visits to various museums in the afternoon. Outside the framework of classes, Vienna offers plenty of opportunities to explore additional cultural and historical sights.
The academic course environment encourages intercultural and social exchange and favors mutual understanding within the international student population. Participants thus broaden their horizons, meet colleagues from different fields of study, make friends for life and build connections for their future professional careers.

Given the intercultural and interdisciplinary aspect of the program our course offerings are, without question, of interest for students from all fields of study, but certainly of special interest for students who study one of the following fields: History, Cultural Studies, Art, Design, Architecture, Literature, Psychology, and Political Science.

Scope

Achieving human well-being and eradicating poverty for all people on earth – while protecting our planet’s climate and biodiversity – will require transformative change. You can be a part of this change. But to help transform the world, we first need to understand the complex global challenges we face and our role in these. Join us at the 2025 International Winter School on Sustainable Development to deepen your understanding of these issues – through creative, interactive, and participatory learning.

Current global sustainability challenges are increasingly complex. Really understanding what’s at stake requires knowledge on systemic interactions and on competing claims by different actors. Science, thus, has a major role to play in informing negotiations and solutions to guide the societal transformations needed to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The purpose of this Winter School is to empower participants to act in the face of these challenges. In this nine-day online course, experienced sustainability researchers will highlight the most important development issues in their respective fields. These presentations will alternate with study time where participants can deepen their knowledge individually or in groups. Moreover, participants will form interdisciplinary teams in which they will co-design solutions to concrete sustainability challenges.

Structure of the Winter School

The course involves the following main elements:

Tohoku University Japanese Program (TUJP) is a short program designed to improve your Japanese proficiency and deepen your understanding of Japan.

Courses offered at HSI 2024 are divided into four types: the Advance Research Course and the Global Liberal Arts Course, both designed primarily for students; and the HSI extension/professional program in English and Japanese, both providing recurrent education intended primarily for adults.

HU has high expectations that the HSI students cultivate a better understanding of other cultures and improve communication skills through exchanges with researchers and students from other countries. Events are also planned to let the participants enjoy Hokkaido’s beautiful summer.

Sophia Summer Sessions welcomed over 11,000 students from around the globe since its foundation in 1961, and many have gone on to pursue exciting careers related to Japan. Ritsumeikan Summer Japanese Program is a five-week program, while Ritsumeikan Summer Japanese Program Express is a two-week intensive program.

All of these programs consist of two major subjects: intensive Japanese language class, which provides them with a thorough introduction to the language, and Japanese Studies classes, where you can learn about Japanese culture and take part in fieldwork to cultural spots in Kyoto.

The purpose of the 2024 “Kanagawa University Japanese Language and Culture Program” is to help students deepen their understanding of Japan and Japanese culture through learning the Japanese language, and Japanese affairs, and experiencing Japanese culture.

We will be holding 2 terms that the Japanese language class level is different for each term.
We appreciate it if the students would participate in the period that suits their Japanese language proficiency.
The students will be able to participate in only a single term or both terms.

＊In the case that the number of applicants in a particular level either reaches capacity or does not reach the minimum number of participants required, there is a possibility of being asked to attend only a single term even though the student had applied for both terms.

※Eligibility

UTokyo Amgen Scholars Program applicants must be undergraduate students:

1. attend colleges and universities across the Asia region. Please check the Eligibility section of the Amgen Scholars Program webpage.
2. at the minimum have completed their first year of undergraduate study at the time the summer program begins, and
3. are not graduating before the summer program begins and will resume their undergraduate studies for at least 1 semester after the end of the summer program.
4. Have a strong record of academic performance, good working knowledge of English, and an interest in pursuing a Ph.D.

※Requirement

1. To live in the accommodation provided by UTokyo.
2. To devote full effort to participation in the Amgen Scholars Program. Scholars cannot take any courses or hold a job throughout the program.
3. To give a poster/presentation describing his/her summer research project.

[Global Unit Course (GUC)]

These short-term intensive courses provide a great opportunity for your students to experience the University of Tokyo and Japan. The course contents span from humanities to social sciences to STEM subjects (see the list of courses for 2024 on the GUC website).

They are taught entirely in English by cutting-edge scholars, who are full-time faculty members of the University of Tokyo. Additionally, we offer Japanese language courses. Most courses can be completed in one or two weeks, and students will be granted Global Unit, with a certificate issued upon course completion.

※Language Requirement
All UTokyo GUC courses are taught entirely in English (except for Japanese language courses) and no knowledge of the Japanese language is required. Although no certificate of English language skills is required, students must possess sufficient language proficiency to complete university-level courses. The expected minimum proficiency level is that of TOEFL iBT 90 or IELTS 6.5.
