The Tohoku University Japanese Program (TUJP) is a short-term program designed to improve your Japanese proficiency and deepen your understanding of Tohoku, Japan. The program consists of intensive Japanese lessons combined with many hands-on activities to practice the language. In addition, it includes interactive lessons on both traditional and modern Japanese culture and society. The program also covers earthquake memorials and disaster prevention studies in Tohoku.

Moreover, participants will engage in collaborative learning activities with local Tohoku University students. Friendly and supportive “buddies” (local students) will help you feel welcome and assist you throughout the program.

Tailored to meet your needs and interests, this program will help you deepen your understanding of Tohoku and Japan.

English Ability

– Applicants are expected to have sufficient English proficiency, equivalent to TOEFL® iBT 70 or PBT 520 (recommended).
– Results from other internationally recognized English tests (e.g. TOEIC, IELTS) are also accepted.

The Tohoku University Engineering Summer Program (TESP) is a 16-day international program that brings together engineering students from around the world. Conducted entirely in English, it features lectures and hands-on activities on advanced engineering topics, along with cultural experiences that deepen participants’ understanding of Japan. Each summer, around 50 students gather on the Aobayama Campus to learn, collaborate, and create lasting memories.

Accommodation
Participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodation. Please ensure your check-in date is no later than July 8 and your check-out date is on or after July 25. To find affordable accommodation options, TU support will be helpful.

At Session 1, the EISC offers a variety of credit-bearing courses in diverse disciplines. Each year the courses are crafted and selected with careful consideration and are taught by talented and devoted instructors from Ewha and prestigious universities across the world. In addition to the quality of the courses offered, the EISC courses have a relatively small faculty to student ratio that provides a more intimate learning environment for students, enhancing their academic experience. During Session 1, students also have the option to take Korean language classes; students take a placement test prior to the start of the program and are placed in a class of their appropriate Korean language level.

Session 2 is designed as a Korean language and culture immersion program. During the program duration of 2 weeks, students take Korean language classes along with special lectures on various topics. Students also participate in daily cultural activities in the afternoon, allowing them the opportunity to explore various parts of Korea and enjoy activities together as a group.

EISC students also will have the opportunity to learn more about Ewha and its students through the Ewha PEACE buddy program, getting a true insider experience of life as an Ewha student.

Update 2026/3/17: Accommodation
SOAS has recently been able to finalise accommodation arrangements for students attending International Summer programme.

Accommodation will be offered at Dinwiddy House, which is used by SOAS undergraduate students during the academic year.
It is located in King’s Cross, about 20 minutes walk north-east of the Russell Square campus.

It will cost £1,170 for the duration of a 3-week course, arriving the day before and leaving the day after.
The accommodation consists of a single-occupancy bedroom with ensuite bathroom and shared kitchen and living area.
The price also includes bedding, bed linen, towels and kitchen essentials – crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment. The bedrooms and communal areas are serviced each week.

There is also free wifi access, a self-service laundry and a common room, for socialising.
If students are applying individually, they will get a code to apply for accommodation once they have accepted their offer. The code provides the discounted rate.

SOAS has updated the attached information sheet and the digital flyer!

The International Summer Programme takes place on the main SOAS (The School of Oriental and African Studie) campus in central London, giving students the opportunity to experience campus life in Bloomsbury while making the most of everything that a major capital city like London has to offer.

Most of the courses last three weeks, and students normally join the programme for three to six weeks. The academic courses cover subjects ranging from International Relations and Global Business to Art and Literature and Media Studies. The English language courses focus on essential everyday English as well as for a more academic context. The courses are scheduled over a nine-week period so students can take one, two or three courses.

It’s a great way for students to develop their English, expand their academic knowledge and experience a different educational culture and approach. Of course, it also gives students the chance to explore London while they study.

Recommended English Levels

– Students choosing an academic subject course are recommended to have at least an intermediate level of English (IELTS 5.5)  in order to understand the lectures, which are delivered at undergraduate level, and to engage in lively discussion in the seminars and tutorials.
– Students choosing the English Language Skills course are recommended to have at least a lower intermediate level of English (IELTS 4.5).
– Students choosing the Intensive Academic English course should have the equivalent of at least IELTS 5.0 in each skill subscore.

Ever since the University of Vienna Sommerhochschule (SHS) was established in 1949, an annual international summer school has been organized.
Today the program provides a multi-dimensional survey of the present development of Europe and the European Union (EU). Participants will study both the decision-making processes within the EU institutions as well as various aspects of European political culture. The program aims at contributing to an increased understanding of the EU and its possible future shape.

The univie: summer school is located in the picturesque village of Strobl in the Salzkammergut region, one of Austria’s most attractive summer vacation areas. Students and faculty are accommodated in high standard single and double rooms at the program’s beautiful summer campus on the shore of Lake Wolfgang.

The four week program offers high level European Studies courses in the morning and German language courses in the afternoon. The language courses are offered at four different levels of proficiency.

The univie: summer school 2026 will take place from July 11 – August 8, 2026.

The Kobe University Summer Program in Japanese Language & Culture (Summer Program) is an intensive 10-day program for students studying Japanese at universities sharing academic partnerships with Kobe University.

This program focusses on engaging students’ Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking skills through studying current issues in Japan, aiming to raise overall Japanese ability, as well as deepening understanding today’s Japanese society. It particularly aims to strengthen the speaking ability of students at Upper Intermediate level. The UAB Barcelona Summer School offers a range of undergraduate courses in various fields, held from late June to late July, following the end of the regular academic year. Most courses are taught in English, enabling students to earn either 6 ECTS credits over a 3-week period or 12 ECTS credits by completing two 3-week periods.

Classes take place in-person in the mornings (9 a.m.–12:45 p.m.) in two diferent terms which aims to give the opportunity to students to do up to two courses, one of each term. An online course will be offered in the first period. Students are recommended to spend between two and three hours per day on self-guided study.

Fee: € 955 Course Fee (6 ECTS) / € 225 for UAB students and Alumni.

The Research Center for Marine Biology (RCMB), Tohoku University will hold the
Shinkishi Hatai International Marine Biology Course (SHIMBC) on 3rd–9th July 2026.

A marine biology station is the ideal environment to observe live marine organisms and to begin studying marine biology. The marine biology course held at our marine biology station, RCMB, situated on the coast of Mutsu Bay, provides hands-on experience in handling marine organisms and explores the diversity and ecology of coastal invertebrates. The course will be comprised of basic and advanced projects. The basic project will introduce the participants to two fields, developmental biology of ascidians and coastal ecology. In the latter advanced project, participants will conduct a supervised project led by instructors, and their findings will be presented on the last day.

Brazilian Seminars Summer program 2026 – 9th edition: 

The Brazilian Seminars developed by PUC-Rio is an interdisciplinary program meant to give a broad perspective of Brazilian issues which are currently in the global scenario.

It is aimed at students, scholars, professionals and everyone else who is interested in the opportunity to deepen their knowledge about Brazil.

The technical visits are offered to promote the encounter of the academic theory with the real life of companies and entrepreneurs located in Rio. Participants have the chance to interact with people in management positions providing significant insights about doing business in Brazil.

We are delighted to announce that the Language Center at Boğaziçi University is organizing the in-person Turkish Language and Culture Program 2026. This intensive and accredited international summer program, which has been offered since 1982, will take place between June 11 and August 7, 2026 and features four levels of instruction—elementary, intermediate, upper-intermediate, and advanced—delivered by university staff specialized in teaching Turkish as a foreign language.

The program provides comprehensive language training for adult learners while also offering first-hand exposure to Turkish culture through weekly lectures by distinguished scholars in fields such as economics, history, literature, fine arts, and architecture. Enrollment for each level is limited to a minimum of five and a maximum of approximately ten students. Kanagawa University offers a short-term intensive language program that is open to

Established in 2016, Hokkaido Summer Institute (HSI) celebrates its 10th anniversary. In the summer of 2026, approximately 150 world-leading researchers from overseas will gather at Hokkaido University to deliver lectures together with our faculty members.
There will be about 150 courses from June to October 2026. Each course conducted in English is worth 1 or 2 academic credits. Most of the courses run for one or two weeks.

Each summer, the UBC Vancouver Summer Program (VSP) welcomes many students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds to take part in a four-week, immersive learning experience at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Registration Guide

EARLY enrollment for affiliated students opens on February 2, 2026.
Open enrollment for the general public will open two weeks later. We strongly encourage affiliate students to take advantage of this early enrollment period since popular classes can fill up quickly.

Classes
Summer 2026 courses have been published in the Berkeley Academic Guide at classes.berkeley.edu.
Visiting students are eligible to enroll directly in any course with space available as long as they meet any pre-requisite requirements and there are no enrollment restrictions. Students may check for prerequisites in the Course Catalog.
A select few courses may have the notation “consent of department required for enrollment.” In this case, the student will need to contact the academic department for permission to enroll. Contact information for the department is listed on their website.

The Summer Sessions 2026 application deadlines, enrollment deadlines, and fees have been published on the summer website.

UC Berkeley Housing
• UC Berkeley Housing includes campus residence halls and apartments.
• Reservations will be accepted for all sessions. However, please note that for the 3-week sessions E & F, only residence halls will be available.

Established in 1989, LSE Summer School is now the largest of its kind in the world. The programme offers courses from a diverse range of disciplines including business and management, accounting, finance, law, economics, international relations, and more. From Economic Policy to AI for Business, the courses are wide-ranging and aim to suit all interests.

Fiction in all its Forms: UEA Creative Writing Summer School

University of East Anglia (UEA) is recognised today as the home of Creative Writing across the globe. We pioneered the teaching of the subject in Europe more than 50 years ago when our first student was Ian McEwan, who went on to win the Booker Prize and become one of Britain’s most well-known authors. Since then, we have trained countless award-winning writers, including Sir Kazuo Ishiguro, the 2017 Nobel Laureate for Literature.

Although we teach all forms of writing, it is fiction especially which we have defined over the last fifty years. This course therefore gives an opportunity for students to experience our Creative Writing workshops and pedagogy while gaining experience of writing the form with which UEA is most associated.

Join us on UEA’s campus in Norwich, England’s first UNESCO City of Literature, in Summer 2026 to learn from experts and immerse yourself in a world of literature alongside likeminded writers.

It is our pleasure to provide you with information about the univie: winter school for Cultural Historical Studies 2026 of the Sommerhochschule of the University of Vienna.
The topic of the winter school is “The Discovery of Modernity – Vienna Around 1900”. The univie: winter school takes place in Vienna, where traces of the outstanding culture of the late 19th and the beginning of the 20th century are still visible.

The two-week program combines first class academic courses with an extensive social and cultural program. Vienna’s rich cultural heritage, especially the museums, will lead to a thorough understanding of the input of the fin-de-siècle on the modernization of Europe.
This unique program consists of high-level lectures in the morning and guided excursions in the city of Vienna as well as visits to various museums in the afternoon. Outside the framework of classes, Vienna offers plenty of opportunities to explore additional cultural and historical sights.
The academic course environment encourages intercultural and social exchange and favors mutual understanding within the international student population. Participants thus broaden their horizons, meet colleagues from different fields of study, make friends for life and build connections for their future professional careers.

Given the intercultural and interdisciplinary aspect of the program our course offerings are, without question, of interest for students from all fields of study, but certainly of special interest for students who study one of the following fields: History, Cultural Studies, Art, Design, Architecture, Literature, Psychology, and Political Science.

This time, the program will combine a three-day, two-night trip to Hiroshima with two days of Japanese cultural experiences in Tokyo. In Hiroshima, participants will visit sites such as the Peace Memorial Park, which was established in remembrance of the atomic bomb victims and as a symbol of the wish for everlasting world peace, as well as Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima Island, a World Heritage site and one of Japan’s Three Most Scenic Spots. Through these visits, students will have the opportunity to learn about nature and history.

Ritsumeikan University offers programs for undergraduate and graduate students with minimal knowledge of the Japanese language, providing a comprehensive introduction to Japanese language and culture.
Ritsumeikan Summer/Winter Japanese Program (RSJP/RWJP) is a five-week program, while Ritsumeikan Summer/Winter Japanese Program Express (RSJP/RWJP Express) is a two-week intensive program.
All of these programs consist of two major subjects: intensive Japanese language class, which provides them with a thorough introduction to the language, and Japan Studies classes, where you can learn about Japanese culture and take part in fieldwork to cultural spots in Kyoto.

【Eligibilities】
• Currently enrolled in a university during the entire program period (undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students)
• Submit necessary documents and pay fees by due date
• Students with no prior Japanese learning experience must learn Hiragana and Katakana before joining the program. Self-study in advance is required.
• The Japanese classes follow the direct method, meaning instruction is conducted entirely in Japanese. English assistance is very limited and should not be expected.

Scope

Achieving human well-being and eradicating poverty for all people on earth – while protecting our planet’s climate and biodiversity – will require transformative change. You can be a part of this change. But to help transform the world, we first need to understand the complex global challenges we face and our role in these. Join us at the 2025 International Winter School on Sustainable Development to deepen your understanding of these issues – through creative, interactive, and participatory learning.

Current global sustainability challenges are increasingly complex. Really understanding what’s at stake requires knowledge on systemic interactions and on competing claims by different actors. Science, thus, has a major role to play in informing negotiations and solutions to guide the societal transformations needed to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The purpose of this Winter School is to empower participants to act in the face of these challenges. In this nine-day online course, experienced sustainability researchers will highlight the most important development issues in their respective fields. These presentations will alternate with study time where participants can deepen their knowledge individually or in groups. Moreover, participants will form interdisciplinary teams in which they will co-design solutions to concrete sustainability challenges.

The Initiative offers conceptual and empirical elements of social sciences to place health-disease processes in a complex sociocultural environment.
